FIRE Progress – June 2020

Throughout May, pretty much all of my money accounts (investments, savings, super) increased.

At 1 June 2020, I was really happy to see that my total net worth crossed the $50,000 mark! It’s really great to see this and to see how this has increased over time (and even this current year).

While there was a big draw down in April due to the investing world crashing, as expected, it’s shot back up (very quickly), pushing all of my investments to new highs.

Still a while to go from my goal of $100,000 by the end of this year, but I’ll keep doing what I can (mainly saving 50% of my income and investing) and I’ll see how it goes. Also, anything I can do in the meantime to boost my income will really help.

During May, it was the first time that my ASX portfolio crossed over $50,000. It was really great to see this. All that investing during the pandemic has really paid off – and there is still a lot more growth to go.

Checking out my portfolio performance (since uploading my data to Self Wealth), it’s great to see that my portfolio is almost where it was 6 months ago. It was also crazy to see the increase of 10% just in the past month.

Looking at my performance compared to the market – it’s been going very well!

My primary investments over the past months have been diversified ETFs focusing on exposure across Australia (IOZ), Asia (VAE), and the US (VTS). I’ve been working on increasing my portfolio value weighting towards the US and Asia, as it has been and is currently primarily focused on Australia.

As always, I’m going to keep investing as much as I can (which is usually ~$1,000 a fortnight). I will probably have to increase this in the coming 6 months.

It’s coming up to the middle of the year, so for my next update, I will have to review where I am and work out exactly what I need to do to reach my yearly goal and to keep on track. While my goals have been ambitious, they are just high enough to push me to work harder to achieve them. I’m really keen to see how I go over the next 6 months.

I wonder what will happen this month with the stock market. Either up or down, it doesn’t change the strategy. Invest now, invest often, and invest for your future.

If you have any questions or what to know more about anything, then let me know and I’ll be happy to chat!

Nathan
